Overview

Akumen is seeking a Test Engineer to support quality assurance and testing activities for software, data, and platform solutions delivered under a federal program. This role is responsible for validating functional performance, identifying defects, supporting remediation efforts, and ensuring delivered capabilities meet program and user requirements through manual and automated testing methods.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, test cases, scripts, and validation procedures.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and user support testing for software and data solutions.
Identify, document, and track defects through resolution and retesting.
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and technical leads to validate requirements and verify fixes.
Support quality assurance reporting and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software testing, quality assurance, or systems validation.
Experience developing and executing manual and/or automated test cases and scripts.
Experience using defect tracking and test management tools in structured delivery environments.
Demonstrated ability to validate system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and support release readiness.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in a related field.
Experience testing data platforms, analytics applications, or cloud-hosted systems.
Experience with Agile testing practices and continuous integration environments.
Familiarity with automated testing tools and scripting for regression testing.
Experience supporting federal systems or regulated environments.

Clearance Requirement

Must possess an active Secret security clearance or higher, or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance or higher in accordance with contract requirements.
