The Role:

As a Software Engineering Manager at Read AI, you will lead a team building the core product experiences that users interact with every day. This role is for a hands-on leader who has deep React.js expertise and a strong UI/UX background and can set a high bar for craft, performance, accessibility, and design partnership, while helping the team ship impactful features early and often.

You’ll work closely with Product Design, Product Management, and cross-functional engineering partners to deliver intuitive, beautiful, and scalable user experiences that help millions of users get more done. We’re especially excited about leaders who use data, metrics, and experimentation to validate decisions, measure outcomes, and iterate quickly.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and grow a frontend engineering team (hiring, coaching, performance, career development)

• Set technical direction for React.js architecture, performance, accessibility, and quality

• Partner with Design and Product to deliver cohesive, elegant user experiences

• Build and evolve a component system/design system to improve speed and consistency

• Use metrics and user feedback to guide prioritization and continuously improve the product

• Support an experimentation mindset (A/B tests, feature flags, iteration loops) to improve UX and engagement

• Drive execution from planning through launch, balancing velocity and engineering excellence

• Establish and reinforce best practices: testing, code review, observability, and reliable releases

What We’re Looking For:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with cutting edge frontend leadership.

• 3+ years of people management experience leading product engineering teams

• Expert-level React.js experience (modern web stack, TypeScript, SSR, RSC, etc.)

• Strong UI/UX instincts and experience collaborating closely with designers

• Track record of shipping high-quality user-facing products with speed and discipline

• Comfortable using analytics, experimentation, and KPI-driven outcomes to inform product decisions

• Excellent communication and ability to lead in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

• Experience with CI/CD deployment pipelines in AWS.

• Experience using agentic tools for automating tasks and improving quality.

• Experience building AI-powered or productivity-focused products

Bonus Points:

• Experience with design systems at scale

• Performance optimization experience (large-scale UIs, real-time updates, complex flows)

• Strong familiarity with product analytics tools and experimentation frameworks

Software Engineering Manager position offers a base pay range of $190,000 - $240,000, plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer low deductible health plans, as well as flexible time away and family leave programs.
