Senior Engineer
Syncopate is modernizing the music industry's back office. Read more in our blog post about what we're building and why it matters.
Note: As an engineer myself, I know the feeling of sifting through piles of startups that have either not achieved product-market fit, are beholden to VCs, or do not provide sufficient compensation. At Syncopate, we've been intentional about building a business that has strong product-market fit, complete independence, and concrete financial upside, all while aiming our sights at a high-impact moonshot goal. If you're a talented engineer who wants to get paid what you're worth to work on meaningful problems without the bureaucracy of a big company, read on.
What You'll Do
Leverage cutting-edge LLM technology to build AI-native products
Build data systems capable of ingesting trillions of rows of music data
Help design and manage our cloud infrastructure on AWS
Work with our design team to construct beautiful frontend experiences for our users
Own your work from design through implementation, testing and release
These responsibilities are just a starting place! We’re a small company, we don’t have rigid roles, and we have a lot to do — we can help you grow wherever your interests take you
Requirements
3+ years of software engineering experience
Are ambitious and want to put in the work to build something you're truly proud of
Fluency in Typescript and the NodeJS ecosystem
Experience with an OLAP DBMS like Clickhouse
Experience with React
Experience with cloud-based DevOps workflows
You'll Thrive If You
Have a genuine interest in the music industry, a large part of this role will be understanding the nuances of a niche industry
Feel at home working with massive, complex 3rd party datasets
Have experience building production-ready AI-native applications that utilize LLMs for mission critical components, without losing reliability or accuracy
Life at Syncopate
Syncopate is a nimble, dynamic environment that offers a unique combination of great compensation, low bureaucracy, and high impact:
We offer high end compensation and significant opportunities for performance based bonuses
We're a very small team, which means our culture is still being formed. We all take pride in our work and we are all completely customer obsessed
So far, the team is entirely based in NYC, but if you're the right fit, being in NYC is not a requirement
