Position Summary:
The Department Technical Lead plays a pivotal role in supporting the Sales Application Engineering team by providing advanced technical expertise, reviewing and guiding complex project designs, and acting as a key liaison across departments. This role is ideal for a senior-level SAE who thrives on solving problems, mentoring peers, and ensuring technical excellence across the project lifecycle—from quotation through release to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership
    • Serve as a go-to expert for complex or custom project quotations, designs, and engineering challenges.
    • Review and validate engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
    • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to fellow team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.

  • Project Support & Coordination
    • Collaborate with sales reps, customers, and internal teams to clarify technical requirements and guide viable solutions.
    • Support the development of accurate, competitive pricing and configuration for custom HVAC and modular systems.
    • Assist in coordinating project-related information with internal teams including Engineering, Production, and Purchasing.

  • Process and Quality Assurance
    • Contribute to the improvement and adoption of department standards, tools, and templates used in quoting and order processing.
    • Ensure technical consistency and integrity in documentation released to manufacturing.
    • Help troubleshoot production issues related to released designs when needed.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as a technical liaison between Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to align project requirements and timelines.
    • Support change order evaluations and updates without impacting production schedules or ship dates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred, equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Sales Application Engineering, Technical Sales, or similar.
  • Strong technical proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor) and blueprint interpretation.
  • Solid understanding of custom HVAC or mechanical systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP systems is beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team-wide initiatives.

  • Ability to remain focused when working on technical tasks for extended periods.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in an office and remote environment, with occasional on‑site visits as needed.
  • May encounter mechanical equipment, elevated work areas, or loud noise when visiting manufacturing or customer locations.
  • Compliance with applicable safety policies and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during on‑site visits.
  • Regular collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and project support teams.

Pay Range:

$128,051.00 - $192,076.00
