Job Description

Our Mission:

At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.

Our Vision:

We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.

The Role:

We’re hiring our first Product Designer to own the full Cell Experience at Sunrise Robotics - defining how humans interact with robotic systems in real production environments.

This includes every user-facing touchpoint of the robotic cell: software interfaces (operations, analytics, settings) and physical interfaces (e-stop, lights, sound, feedback systems). Your goal is to make complex, autonomous systems feel intuitive, predictable, and trustworthy.

You’ll work closely with robotics, AI, software, and mechanical teams to design experiences that hold up in real-world conditions. As the first designer, you’ll also define the design language, standards, and level of craft across Sunrise’s products.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the end-to-end Cell Experience across digital and physical interfaces

  • Define interaction models, system behaviours, and design principles for robotic systems

  • Design for real-world use, including edge cases, alerts, failure modes, and recovery flows

  • Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure designs translate into production-quality behaviour

  • Prototype concepts across software and hardware (e.g. UI flows, displays, light systems)

  • Validate designs with users and iterate based on real-world feedback

  • Establish and maintain a consistent design language across all interaction surfaces

  • Set the standard for design quality, clarity, and usability across the company

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience designing integrated hardware–software products

  • Strong foundation in UX and interaction design, with high visual design quality

  • Experience designing for complex systems (e.g. robotics, automotive, industrial, or similar)

  • Ability to think in systems, not just screens - across flows, states, and behaviours

  • Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g. Figma) and ability to prototype ideas quickly

  • Comfort working hands-on with prototypes, including physical interaction where relevant

  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering disciplines

  • Clear, structured communication and ability to drive alignment

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience designing for industrial or safety-critical environments

  • Experience with multimodal interfaces (visual, sound, light, physical feedback)

  • Technical fluency in prototyping (hardware, microcontrollers, or front-end)

  • Experience working closely with robotics or autonomous systems

  • Strong point of view on human–machine interaction in complex environments

Why Us?

We’re building a new category of intelligent, flexible robotic automation with real deployments, real customers, and momentum across Europe.

  • High exposure: Define how users interact with our systems, working directly with founders and engineering teams

  • Career acceleration: Build and own design from first principles in a category-defining robotics company

  • Real impact: Your work will shape how operators interact with systems running in live production environments
