Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About The Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Juna AI, you'll work directly with customers to understand their most pressing operational challenges and build solutions that deliver real impact on the factory floor. You'll combine strong software engineering skills with a hands-on, customer-first mindset — translating complex industrial problems into production-ready software.

This role sits at the intersection of product and customer delivery. You'll contribute to our core platform while also developing tailored solutions that solve specific customer needs. You'll gain rare insights into some of the world's most important industries and help shape how AI agents transform industrial operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Own Customer Projects End-to-End: Work in small teams to deliver high-stakes projects — from scoping and design through to deployment and handover.

• Build Production Software: Develop robust, scalable features across the stack (backend, frontend, data pipelines) that become part of our product platform.

• Work Directly with Customers: Spend time on-site and in close collaboration with operations teams to deeply understand their workflows, constraints, and goals.

• Ship Fast, Iterate Faster: Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions, balancing speed with quality to deliver value quickly.

• Drive Strategic Decisions: With minimal oversight, proactively identify the highest-priority work and drive it to completion.

About You

Core

• Software Engineering Excellence: Strong foundation in software engineering — you write clean, maintainable code and know how to build systems that scale.

• Fullstack Comfort: Experience across the stack. You're comfortable working on backend services, APIs, data infrastructure, and frontend interfaces.

• Programming Proficiency: Strong skills in Python and/or React. Experience with modern frameworks and tooling.

• Customer Orientation: You enjoy working directly with customers, translating ambiguous problems into concrete solutions, and iterating based on feedback.

• Ownership Mindset: You take full responsibility for your work — from understanding the problem to deploying and supporting the solution.

• Adaptability: You thrive in fast-paced environments, context-switch effectively, and stay productive when requirements evolve.

Good to Have

• LLM & AI Application Experience: Familiarity with building applications using LLMs, prompt engineering, or integrating AI capabilities into products.

• Data Engineering Skills: Experience working with messy, large-scale industrial data — ETL pipelines, data modeling, or time-series data.

Bonus:

• ML & DS Experience: Experience in machine learning and data science — especially applied to real-world systems.

• Industrial Domain Knowledge: Prior exposure to manufacturing, process industries, or operational technology (OT) systems.
