We are seeking a dynamic, mission driven Deputy Program Manager (DPM) to help lead a high visibility, enterprise scale implementation program with significant Congressional interest and direct impact on millions of Veterans and beneficiaries. This is a rare opportunity to guide a multi-year modernization effort of national importance, partnering closely with senior federal leaders to advance a transformational agenda.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned federal program leader with exceptional judgment, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and experience navigating politically sensitive, high scrutiny environments—including engagements with oversight bodies and Congressional stakeholders.
The work:
- Provide senior level program management leadership across a major Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) enterprise implementation effort, ensuring delivery of milestones, alignment of strategic priorities, and consistent enterprise wide coordination.
- Support development of program strategy, operating models, timelines, risk frameworks, and performance metrics.
- Lead cross functional planning, issue resolution, and governance processes to maintain program momentum and ensure transparency.
- Prepare high quality materials, briefings, and communications for senior VA leadership, oversight bodies, and other federal stakeholders.
- Coordinate extensively with internal VA organizations, federal partners, and external stakeholders—including Veteran Service Organizations—to maintain alignment and drive program success.
- Manage enterprise level tracking and reporting, including progress updates, interdependency management, legislative considerations, and policy impacts.
- Support Congressional engagements, including inquiry responses, hearing preparation, and strategic communications (experience in legislative or oversight environments—such as House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs—is highly valued).
- Ensure program readiness for leadership reviews, escalations, and decision forums; proactively identify risks and drive mitigation strategies.
- Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, collaboration, and Veteran centric service.
What you need:
- Proven experience supporting or leading large scale federal programs, ideally within the Department of Veterans Affairs or another Cabinet level agency.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with professionalism and strong judgment in high visibility, politically sensitive environments.
- Experience preparing and delivering strategic briefings, legislative materials, and executive level communications.
- Ability to lead cross functional teams and manage complex program interdependencies.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing relationships with Congressional staff, federal partners, or national stakeholder groups.
Nice to have:
- Master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
- Experience with federal benefits programs, large scale enterprise transformation, or legislative implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to support modernization, process improvement, or enterprise integration initiatives.
